Acıgöl

The legend of Acıgöl

In ancient times, a dervish came to the place where Acıgöl is currently located, 8 km northwest of Karapınar. At that time, Acıgöl did not exist yet and instead there was a big mountain and a small village at the foot of this mountain.

This dervish asked for bread from the villagers, and whenever he reached the door, he was kicked out and chased. Only a bride with 2 children secretly gave him bread from the villagers, hosted him and provided him with the opportunity to worship.

Dervish said to this bride, my daughter, he strictly warned her to leave this place now and do not look back no matter what, and the bride quickly left the village, holding one of her children on her back and the other by the hand.

Now, when he came to the place where the legendary stone was located, he was curious about this big noise behind him, he looked behind him, and the mountain where the village was located was destroyed, and as he turned in front of him, he turned to stone in its current place.

The biggest myth about Bitter Lake is that it is connected to the Mediterranean and therefore the water level remains the same throughout the year.
