ASMAN CASTLE

It is in Yesilyurt town. If you want to see this place, you can reach it with about a 1-hour climb from Ovacık plateau. There are plenty of oak trees on the road leading to the castle.

Karacadağ in the region has castles built in many strategic places throughout history due to its sheltered and suitable structure. Asman Castle: It is at an altitude of 1650 meters and at a dominant point at the entrance of Ovacık plateau. It was probably used during the Late Hittite and Byzantine periods.

From the castle to the present day: Approximately 200 meters of the southern, northern and western walls have survived intact. Additionally, the entrance door is relatively solid. Remnants of settlement traces can be seen inside the castle. The eastern side of the castle consists of 30-40 meter natural rock walls and a steep slope.
